Delaware Futures was founded 25 years ago by local civic and business leaders who designed year-round, hands-on programming to help low-income high school students prepare for post-secondary education and training. Our goal is to inspire students who might not otherwise have opportunities become the best possible candidates for college and future careers. Delaware Futures scholars benefit from academic enrichment, mentoring, experiential learning, cultural exploration, community service, internships, college tours, and more! With your help we will continue to offer our program services at no cost to students and their families.

Delaware Futures has graduated hundreds of scholars in New Castle County and is now also serving students in Kent and Sussex Counties! Many of our alumni are now in key professional positions throughout the state and region!  Please help continue the legacy! Make a meaningful gift today!

With your contribution, Delaware Futures can continue build brighter futures through education! Learn more on our website at

"My name is Barry M. Zee, Ph.D., a molecular biologist at Boston Children’s Hospital researching pharmacological interventions in children with leukemia. I am a graduate of Swarthmore College and earned my masters and doctorate degrees at Princeton University. But first I was a graduate of Delaware Futures.

As part of the Delaware Futures Class of 2004, I am pleased to ask for your support of this extraordinary organization. Now more than ever, Delaware Futures’ deserving young students need help to realize their potential and become matriculated college students. I reached out to Delaware Futures this past summer to offer my help. I recognize the impact Delaware Futures had on my life and I felt concerned about how this small nonprofit would manage through the COVID-19 crisis.

I met with the team over Zoom and saw how dedicated they are to keeping in touch with students, many of whom are from some of the hardest hit communities in Delaware. I learned how Delaware Futures quickly pivoted to offer remote programming sessions, tutoring, college access, virtual college tours, and paid remote internships. They brought in guidance services to help students cope with the stress of the quarantine and racial injustices. Students rely on the academic enrichment that has been part of the program for more than 25 years. When asked what made the greatest difference in my own journey, I said it wasn’t any one thing – it was the sum of the opportunities offered, like the hands-on advising, mentoring, community service projects, and peer group meetings."

Thanks to Delaware Futures, I graduated from Drexel University and am now part of Nemours Hospitals for Children as a physician recruiter. Fellow alumni are also out doing great things in the areas of education, medicine, social justice, counseling, law, finance, technology, and other sectors. Our future graduates are facing incredibly difficult times and need Delaware Futures to help them reach their goals.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Delaware Futures quickly pivoted to offer remote programming sessions, tutoring, college access and paid internships. We know our students rely on the free tutoring, group meetings and mentoring that have been part of our program for more than 25 years. We are also offering virtual college tours, community service projects, cultural programs, and paid internships to help students become the best possible candidates for college and careers.

Thanks to volunteers and dozens of partners, Delaware Futures continues to engage students who will need extra help to work toward their dreams of going to college."
