Support the Delaware Historical Society this Do More 24! Do More 24 Delaware 2024

Organization Mission:

The Delaware Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that preserves, promotes, and shares Delaware’s history to educate, inspire, and empower people and communities.

Why DHS?
Learning from our history has never been more important!

Delaware Historical Society stewards nine historical buildings and over 3,000,000 artifacts related to Delaware’s unique history. But at Delaware Historical Society, we don’t just preserve the past; we learn from it.

Our programming examines Delaware History through new lenses and advances important conversations that build community and shape future generations.

We offer a full menu of programming ranging from Family & Community Days, to enlightening book talks with well-known authors on current topics, to experiences such as a walking tour illuminating 5 generations of Black community in Old New Castle.

All are made possible through the support of people like you. Your gift will benefit our Mitchell Center for African American Heritage, Read House & Gardens, Research Library & Collections, and community & educational programming.

And this year, you have DOUBLE the reason to give! We are thrilled to announce that Our Board of Trustees has pledged a generous $5,000 matching challenge, so your gift will have twice the impact.

We rely on your support to:
• create accessible, educational experiences for Delaware families
• inspire the next generation of historians through National History Day
• host forums for public dialogue that deepen understanding of the past and the present

Your support means we can continue to tell the stories of Delaware neighborhoods, communities, and families -- their struggles, victories, and everyday lives.

Join our mission to educate, inspire, and empower diverse communities of Delawareans as we preserve and promote our state's rich history.
