We are more than just Hospice.

Since 1990, Delaware Hospice has provided professional, quality care and grief support to grieving children/teens in Delaware and southeast Pennsylvania through its New Hope program.

One component of New Hope is Camp. An annual, four-day summer camp, Camp New Hope gives children and teens, ages 6-17, the chance to work through their grief and loss alongside their peers. Between the two camps, there are approximately 80 campers who attend.  This year's camp dates and locations are the following:

June 21 – 24
Lums Pond State Park
1042 Howell School Road
Bear, DE 19701

June 27 – 30
Killens Pond State Park
5025 Killens Pond Rd
Felton, DE 19943

Highlights of Camp New Hope:

• Camp activities and bereavement exercises; campers have opportunities to interact with other children/teens who have experienced loss.
• Group projects, individual support, education, and free time allow children/teens to process emotions and ask questions.
• A special memorial service at the end of camp celebrates and honors the life of each child/teen’s loved one.

You can help.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we are able to provide activities, meals and supplies for the campers, free of charge.

Here are some ways that your donation supports a camper:

$25 – Memory box for a camper.
$50 – Arts and crafts material for a camper.
$75 – Food and drinks for a camper during the week.
$100 – Water activity (pedal boating or admission to the water park) for a camper.

Interested in doing more? For $300, you can support a child/teen's entire camp experience (including but not limited to the items listed above).

About Delaware Hospice

Mission: Delaware Hospice supports every individual, family, and community with compassionate, expert care for serious illness. We provide advanced illness management through our programs and services: Delaware Transitions, Delaware Palliative, Delaware Hospice, Delaware Hospice Center, Katybug Pediatric Program, Bereavement, and New Hope.

We are more than just Hospice.
Delaware Hospice offers many different programs designed to meet you and your family at any stage of serious illness.

Delaware Hospice helps patients and families focus on their time together and get back to what’s important. In addition to attending to your family’s practical and physical needs, our trained specialists help you navigate any emotional and spiritual concerns that may arise in the face of a life-limiting illness.

Delaware Palliative offers relief to seriously ill patients who are receiving active, curative treatment. Assistance is provided to identify goals of care and manage symptoms while dealing with the physical and psychosocial burdens of a serious illness.

Delaware Transitions helps seriously ill individuals who are not ready for medical support find help. Clients benefit from gaining information about community services and receiving advice on how to adjust to new challenges.

The Delaware Hospice Center in Milford is the first of its kind in Delaware, providing comprehensive, specialized, 24/7 care to patients in need of critical, short-term symptom management.

Delaware Hospice at Saint Francis, on the 6th floor of Saint Francis Hospital, is our newest inpatient center, providing comprehensive, specialized, 24/7 care to patients in need of critical, short-term symptom management.

Katybug our pediatric program, helps children facing a serious illness live well while improving their quality of life and helping their families cope with the challenges and feelings that are a natural part of their journey.

Grief Support is offered to all family members before and after a loved one passes and continues for thirteen months after loss through a variety of workshops and support groups.

New Hope, our children and teen bereavement program, targets children struggling with an expected or unexpected loss. Camp New Hope allows campers to meet others going through similar experiences and interact in traditional and bereavement activities.

It's never too early to call. Let us help you so you can focus on what matters.
