Growth requires time, perseverance, and investment.
As everyone's growth was deeply curtailed last year, so was Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring Association’s (RodneyStreet) ability to grow. However, throughout every aspect of the crisis, we continued to actively engage our returning players and provided opportunities for those unfamiliar with tennis to experience a fast-growing sport.
Collaborations with local community centers offered recreational support to children affected during the challenge of online learning. Our staff offered tennis sessions to those who might never encounter the sport. Through this outreach, participants who take to the game and are interested in pursuing more court time within our core programming are identified and provided scholarship opportunities.
RodneyStreet utilized creativity and the passion of our staff to deliver programming throughout every season and incorporated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) projects as avenues for acquiring knowledge. We returned to some normalcy during the first half of 2021. We were back in person with enrichment for our spring program and by the summer we offered full-day programming.
We continued to focus on our objectives and model resilience and a growth mindset to our participants. As we look to the immediate future and expansion, financial support will provide us with room to grow throughout the state of Delaware.
To be even more effective, it is imperative that we increase our staffing for additional tennis outreach sites and instructors for our enrichment activities. This will also combat the learning loss our participants experienced over the past eighteen months through fun and engaging programming that has a positive impact. A donation helps with coaching costs, equipment, teaching resources, and more.
Fostering a lifelong love of tennis and learning is developed through hard work, positive strategies, and input from a variety of sources. Please help us continue our goal of growing the game!
