Hello my name is Sophia Schwinghammer, welcome to my ‘Do More 24’ fundraising campaign: the Delaware Division of the Arts’ online day of giving! It is an incredible 24 hours of community effort to raise funds for small businesses and arts throughout Delaware.
As a ballet dancer for the company, I am working along side the First State Ballet Theater to gather donations, which will be generously matched by the Delaware Division of the Arts, up to a total of $125,000 between the eligible programs. Additionally, Delaware Division of the Arts is also giving bonus gifts to organizations for every unique donator that participates in Do More 24! This is a tremendous avenue for FSBT to gain the additional finances necessary for us to bring ballet to life throughout all of Delaware. Any donation big or small will help build up our company’s presence and help us to reach out in increasingly more impactful ways.
I have personally seen this company’s efforts to bring exceptional performances to all of Delaware and I can say it’s nothing short of inspiring. All the way from our seasoned leaders to the newest of our dancers, the company fosters a sincere dedication to quality and the arts. With the additional bonuses per individual donator, this is a great chance to show the Delaware Division of the Arts just how many fans we have here in Delaware, and that the love of Ballet is alive and thriving! Now in its 22st season, First State Ballet Theatre is Delaware’s only professional ballet company and serves thousands of Delawareans each year through our performances, our school, and our outreach programs. FSBT’s performing artists come from around the world to dance in our mainstage season at The Grand Opera House and other performances statewide. The School of FSBT is Delaware’s leader in classical ballet training and was recently named in the Top 5% of U.S. Ballet Academies by an independent study at Northeastern University. In 2019 FSBT created the National Ballet Competition, which awards thousands of dollars in scholarships for aspiring dancers to prestigious summer programs around the country. FSBT's outreach programs serve thousands of Delawareans with low-cost or free dance instruction and lecture-demos in schools and community centers statewide.
