Girls on the Run Delaware's mission is to encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development for girls in 3rd through 8th grades across the state!  Our tween and teenage girls need this program now more than ever! This spring, Girls on the Run will be launching it's second curriculum in a brand new curriculum series entitled Mountain Movers! This curriculum maintains all the magic of the Girls on the Run program but consists of new lessons to help girls build the confidence to believe in themselves and do hard things. To do hard things, Girls on the Run teaches girls how to activate their I Can! Power. Throughout the season, the girls build their I Can! Power as they add more tools to their toolbox with lessons like Self-Talk, Stick-With-It Strategies, Celebrating Mistakes, and Moving With Your Emotions.

At GOTR Delaware, our objective is to make our program available to all girls throughout the state regardless of their families ability to pay the program fee. We want all girls across Delaware to experience our life changing program. We do this through our Scholarship Program.  In 2024 alone, we offered $210,000 in scholarship funding to 1,417 girls in Delaware.  Their confidence and physical, mental, and emotional health deserve it!

Please help us raise $5,000 for our hundreds of scholarship girls this season.

About Girls on the Run Delaware

Mission: Girls on the Run Delaware delivers two life-changing character development programs for girls in 3rd through 8th grades. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident, using a fun, experience- based curriculum which creatively integrates running. The Girls on the Run program inspires participants to recognize their inner strength, increase their level of physical activity, imagine their possibilities, and confidently stand up for themselves and others.

This year Girls on the Run Delaware will be celebrating 20 years of offering our life-changing program to girls across Delaware. Since our inception in 2005, we have served over 30,000 girls on 1,503 teams from 105 schools and community centers throughout Delaware.

Our programs, for 3rd through 8th grade girls, meet after school, twice a week, for 10 weeks. Each year, our programs are offered statewide in the spring and fall. Our innovative program combines training for a 5K with interactive lessons that encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and completing a celebratory, non-competitive 5K event that provides girls with a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment and a framework for setting and achieving life goals.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
One of the most unique aspects of Girls on the Run Delaware is our outreach to serve girls from low to moderate income families statewide.  In order to fund these lower income families, we rely on generous grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations to underwrite the cost of our program fee for our underserved girls. Our objective is to make our program available to all girls throughout the state and to deliver our curriculum to all girls regardless of their families ability to pay the program fee. Over 65% of our participants receive a partial or full scholarship to participate in our program each season. In 2024 alone, we provided 1,417  girls over $210,000 in scholarship funding.  We have never turned away a girl for their inability to pay.
