About Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids
Mission: Our vision is to inspire and motivate youth to develop lifelong wholesome eating habits by experiencing the joy of growing, cooking, and eating garden-fresh vegetables.
Our mission is to design and implement food and garden-based educational programs for Delaware schools that support content standards and promote student health. HFHK does this by partnering with kindergarten-8th grade schools to start an onsite school vegetable garden program running during the academic day. HFHK’s unique program aligns with the science curriculum and provides outdoor hands-on learning opportunities that coincide with gardening tasks for students of all grade levels. Growing cool weather, fast growing crops, we provide a seed-to-table experience in both the fall and spring. The garden produce is either served to students in the school cafeteria or as part of a classroom cooking demonstration. Partnering with over 30 schools across the state, HFHK has touched the lives of over 10,000 Delaware school kids and helped them grow 500,000 radishes. Our goal is to put a garden in every interested school in the state. Your donation will support our quest to Veggie-cate the First state as we expand our program to additional schools in Kent and Sussex Counties.
