Clear Space Theatre Company is obviously very close to my heart. In my 2+ years here, it has been in incredible privilege to see the work on our stage and in our education programs grow, to get to know the remarkable community support that has always surrounded it, and to watch that tent grow to be bigger and bigger in the brief time I've been here.

Right now, CSTC is at an exciting and critical inflection point. We have selected the site to build our new performing arts center at 11 Christian Street in downtown Rehoboth Beach. However, that project is still a number of years away from its ribbon cutting. And between now and then, demand in our community for great professional theater and arts-based learning only continues to surge. That is why, over the next several years, CSTC is making moves to expand our existing capacity to both make room for the young people in our classes and audiences in our theater who need access and also to ensure our operational infrastructure is ready to thrive once we are in that new space.

The Longwood Foundation has made a generous commitment to that vision, with a 2 1/2 year $350,000 gift that will enable us to lease satellite spaces for classes (starting this year) and for performances in a flexible seating black box theater (starting next year), all while growing our staff support and commissioning new plays to support and fill those spaces with the best possible theater and education for all in our region.

That gift needs to be matched with new funding (some will come from the programs that expand into those new spaces, of course) -- and this year, Do More 24 is one opportunity to help us achieve that.
