About Marine Education Research and Rehabilitation (MERR Institute)

Mission: MERR is a public non-profit stranding response and rescue organization dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals and sea turtles and their habitat. It is our commitment to contribute to the preservation of these species through research and rescue efforts, and to foster greater understanding and appreciation of these species and their habitat through education and enhanced public awareness.

MERR provides response and rescue for stranded marine mammals and sea turtles throughout Delaware. We provide our services for these threatened and endangered species 24/7, providing life saving fluids and nourishment, wound care, pain management, and more.  We also contribute to important research on these species and ocean health, and provide no cost education and outreach programs to students and the public, so that they are accessible to everyone.
