Latin American Community Center (LACC)

To empower the Latino community through education, advocacy, partnerships, and exceptional services.

$1,445 raised from 25 donors

$5,000 goal

The LACC is raising funds for our Minerva Marrero Hispanic Scholarship Program, which will provide scholarships to low-income Latino high school seniors enrolling in post-secondary education in the fall of 2023. Through this program, we will provide $25,000 in scholarships to Hispanic High School seniors. This will be broken down into (3) $5,000 scholarships, (2) $3,000 scholarships, and (2) $2,000 scholarships. The LACC hopes to raise enough funds to cover 1 of the $5,000 scholarships during Do More 24 this year.

Minerva Marrero was very proud of her Puerto Rican heritage, welcoming newcomers to Wilmington’s Latino community. She founded the original Hispanic Student Recognition Program, which recognized promising Hispanic High School and Middle School students throughout Delaware. It is an honor to name this program after Minerva Marrero so that her legacy of advocating for the success of Hispanic students continues each day.
