Paul Kares is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit born right here on Delmarva, founded by musician and chef Paul Cullen — you may know him from his time with the rock band Bad Company — and local entrepreneur Jim Rivette. Together, they created Paul Kares with one beautiful purpose: to open doors for young people who are passionate about the culinary and musical arts.

Every note played, every meal shared at a Paul Kares event, raises funds that help local students follow their calling. Whether it’s buying a saxophone for a budding musician, sending a culinary student to train in Italy, or covering tuition for an arts program, your donations create real, life-changing opportunities.

In just the past year, Paul Kares has provided scholarships for students studying performing arts, funded culinary trips abroad, and supported entire school programs like the Cape Henlopen Jazz Band —  Each grant tells a story of hope and mentorship rooted in our community.

But what makes Paul Kares truly special is how it blends what we love — music, food, and fellowship — into a force for good. Events at The Room at Cedar Grove, benefit concerts, and even rock-and-roll-themed golf tournaments have all helped fund dozens of young artists chasing their dreams.

Paul Kares hosts fundraising events and solicits donations throughout the year to raise awareness and funds to enable us to fulfill our goal of assisting children who need financial support to attend educational seminars, workshops and classes in their chosen field or to purchase musical instruments and culinary/kitchen tools and equipment.

The nonprofit was founded by Paul Cullen, former bass player for the rock band Bad Company and now a successful Delmarva food, entertainment and wine entrepreneur. Reflecting on his own successful career and determined to find a way to give back to the community, in 2021 Paul and another Lewes entrepreneur, Jim Rivette, founded Paul Kares, Inc., to help fulfill their philanthropic dreams.

Our organization works with grade schools, high schools and other institutions and groups throughout the Delmarva region to identify qualified candidates who may become future recipients of Paul Kares scholarships and other financial awards.
