Rachel’s Black Mothers in Power Fundraiser

A fundraiser for: Black Mothers In Power

Organization Mission:

Black Mothers in Power seeks to eradicate racial health disparities for Black birthing people and Black babies throughout Delaware.

I’m Rachel Wilson.

I’m fundraising for Black Mothers In Power.

This fundraiser is important for Black Mothers In Power to continue to empower Black mothers and their families to thrive during pregnancy and postpartum. More funding will help us:

  • Increase the number of Black Midwives
  • Increase the number of Black Lactation Professionals
  • Increase the number of Black Doulas

Having more Black Birthworkers will help address the Black maternal health care disparity; where Black women are three times as likely to die from pregnancy-related causes as white women, with a maternal mortality rate of 43.5 deaths per 100,000 live births.
About Black Mothers In Power

At BMIP we see the word “Mother” as an all encompassing term. Mothers are not confined to a gender, or those who have given or can give physiological birth. Mothers of all shapes, sizes, genders, and ways of “birthing” are welcome here. Not all who give birth in the physical are mothers or have children. We recognize the nuance and privilege of being a Mother on this plane of existence could never be defined in the narrow view of physiological birth. So whether you are a Drag Mother, Earth Mother, or Mother of Dragons. BMIP sees you.

Vision

Black Mothers in Power envisions a state where all Black birthing people are informed about their birthing rights, have autonomy over their reproductive decisions, and are treated equitably in the healthcare system. Learn more at www.blackmothersinpower.org.
