to plant over 50,000 trees throughout our properties in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties!
Matching Pledge
We're thrilled to announce that an anonymous nature lover and native Delawarean has pledged $5,000 in matching funds up to our $10,000 goal! Your donations will be doubled. For every $25 donated, we can generate $50 towards our goal. Let's work together to make a meaningful impact on our environment and preserve the beauty of Delaware for generations to come!
What does it take to grow a tree?
Our work goes beyond simply planting trees. It's about creating thriving ecosystems that benefit both wildlife and people to ensure future sustainability.
DWL carefully prepares the site, purchases, plants, and nurtures the trees. Our restoration designs are tailored to restore valuable wildlife corridors, establish unique habitat types, and improve air and water quality.
With all this attention to detail, we’ve estimated $50 ensures tree survival by nurturing, reducing destructive invasive species, and maximizing the benefit to Delaware’s environment. With additional funding, we could plant more trees and create and maintain larger connected habitats, fostering even greater ecological richness and resilience.
Help us achieve our goal!
Preparations are underway – our trees are reserved at local nurseries and we’re ready to plant. Help us ensure success so that we can Do More and #RestoreMore in 2024! And join us on March 23rd as we begin planting 1,000 trees toward our goal.

About Delaware Wild Lands, Inc.
Who We Are
Delaware Wild Lands was founded in 1961. We are the largest not-for-profit, non-governmental landowner in Delaware, with significant holdings in all three counties.
We protect and restore Delaware’s important natural areas by purchasing strategic parcels of land. Traditional uses of land, such as hunting, farming, and forestry are integral to our management regime and maintained as important aspects of Delaware’s economy and cultural heritage.
Our organization has played a pivotal role in the permanent protection of more than 31,800 acres of land throughout Delmarva. Today we own and actively manage more than 21,800 acres to ensure clean air, pure water, vibrant wildlife habitat, and healthy farms and forests.
