Sexual violence can have devastating impacts on its survivors. Victims of sexual abuse often suffer from severe depression, dissociative disorders, substance use disorders, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). If left untreated, these conditions can lead to significant suffering psychologically, emotionally, economically, and socially. In the United States, it is estimated that 56% of individuals don’t receive this very necessary mental health treatment, and of those left untreated, 50% reported the inability to pay for the high costs.
