Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ)
Organization Mission:
Concerned about the corrosive consequences of racism, a group of community activists formed a non-partisan non-profit in 2015 to educate, inform, and advocate for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunities
About Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ)
Sponsoring Scholarships In 2018, SDARJ started a scholarship program that annually awards scholarships to local Black/African American high school students headed for college. Students selected must demonstrate a concern for advancing racial justice. In 2022, eight students received $1,000 and a $500 scholarship was awarded to a paraprofessional to advance a teaching certificate.
Black Voices In 2021, SDARJ launched Quarterly Magazine entitled Black Voices. The publication showcases the history, talents, accomplishments and perspective of Black community members.
Legislative Advocacy: SDARJ works with the Delaware state legislature on issues of importance to African Americans in the state including voting access, criminal justice reform, education and more.
