The Legacy and Future of The 100
The concept of “The 100” was born in 1963 in New York City, when a group of visionary African American men—including leaders like Mayor David Dinkins and Jackie Robinson—gathered to explore ways to uplift their communities. Their commitment to mentorship, education, and empowerment laid the foundation for what would become a national movement.
On October 2, 1986, representatives from local chapters convened in Washington, DC to formally establish 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Four distinguished professionals were elected as founding officers, and the organization’s name was unveiled—marking the beginning of a unified, national force for change.
Today, The 100 is an international nonprofit impacting over 125,000 youth across the U.S. and abroad. Its reputation as one of the world’s premiere mentoring organizations is built on the strength, integrity, and vision of its leadership.

About 100 Black Men of Delaware
We proudly received our charter in June 2022, and in just over a year, we’ve grown to a membership of 31 men—including entrepreneurs, physicians, bankers, craftsmen, educators, and business leaders. Our executive board includes two seasoned members from other dynamic chapters, bringing invaluable experience and insight to our local efforts.
Though newly established, our chapter is deeply rooted in the national mission. We are committed to tailoring our programs to meet the needs of Delaware’s youth and families
—through mentorship, education, health and wellness, economic empowerment, and leadership development.

Our 2026 Vision: Invest in Impact
As we launch our 2026 fundraising campaign, we invite you to help us build a sustainable platform for mentorship and community uplift. With the support of local partners and sponsors, we are expanding our bi-weekly mentoring sessions, offering group and one-on-one engagement, and exposing mentees to professionals from diverse fields.
Our mentees learn to present themselves with confidence and clarity—through dress, conduct, and the articulation of their ideas. These are not just lessons in etiquette—they are tools for leadership, resilience, and lifelong success.
