AIDS Delaware was founded in 1984 by concerned volunteer activists to address the state’s emerging AIDS community, and we have been fighting the fight ever since.
Today we are the largest HIV Service Organization in the state, with offices in Wilmington, Dover and Georgetown.
Our services include free, confidential HIV testing; case management/client services; education/ outreach programs; pharmacy services; food pantry; drug & alcohol counseling; mental health counseling; transportation program (Sussex County); and The Village Delaware, a community for LGBTQ+ youth and adults.
With consideration of our immunosuppressed, high-risk clients, we are still practicing safety protocols, wearing masking while in the office and visiting clients. All staff are in the office a minimum of 2 days a week and we are continuing to use telephonic and telehealth capabilities, with those clients that are able to connect technologically. We are providing Rapid HIV Testing every day, by appointment. The food pantry is accessible for clients every Tuesday, 9:30am – 2:30pm.
Here are a few examples of how your donations help.
-
$20 covers a 2-month supply of hearing aid batteries, an expense not covered by insurance.
-
$45 covers co-pay for eyeglasses not covered by insurance or other social service providers.
-
$96 purchases a DART Paratransit pass allowing a wheelchair bound client 9 round trip visits to critical medical appointments.
-
$99 covers the cost for a client to receive 2 bags of non-perishable items and a bag of fresh meats and produce.
-
$135 provides a Wifi Hot Spot for a year, allowing a client to use Telehealth for their weekly check-ins, counseling sessions and other medical appointments.
Your donations, no matter the size, can improve the quality of life for our clients.
From all of us at AIDS Delaware, thank you in advance for your support.
