Organization Mission:

The Brandywine Education Foundation raises funds to provide scholarships to graduates of the Brandywine School District and to provide grants to teachers for innovative programs for their classrooms.

The Brandywine Education Foundation is proud to take part in Do More 24 this year. We are announcing the launch of a new scholarship fund and all funds raised through this effort will go towards that fund.

Our new fund is the Claymont Twelve Fund. This fund when fully endowed will grant 12 scholarships annually to students in the Brandywine School District. These scholarships will be in the names of the Claymont Twelve.

These twelve brave students were part of Belton v Gebhart which was decided in 1952 and gave them the right to attend Claymont High School which until that time was all white. This case was later made part of the landmark Brown v Board of Education case which the Supreme Court decided in 1954 and by a 9-0 vote struck down the separate but equal standard in education.

Please support this fund generously as we work to provide scholarships to our graduates. Every donation helps us get to our goal!
