Seeking to put God's love into action, Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, community and hope.

What does home mean to you?

Maybe it’s the sound of children laughing in the backyard.
Maybe it’s the smell of dinner cooking after a long day.
Or simply the peace of knowing the door is locked, and your family is safe.

For many families in our community, that stability is becoming harder to reach.

Today, the average first-time homebuyer is 41 years old, and a family needs to earn nearly $148,000 a year to afford the mortgage on a median-priced home. For hardworking families across Central Delaware, homeownership is moving further out of reach.

That’s why Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity exists.

For 50 years, Habitat for Humanity has been bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Here in Central Delaware, that work has already helped build 91 homes, creating stability and opportunity for families who partner with us.

And right now, we’re building homes 92 and 93.

But we’re not stopping there.

We are on the Road to 100 Homes, and with your support during DoMore24, we can keep moving forward until every family has a place to call home.

Building a Habitat home takes partnership — volunteers, donors, and the families who work alongside us to build and invest in their future. Each home costs about $150,000 in materials, but every gift makes a difference:

$25 provides the nails that hold walls together.
$50 helps frame the rooms where families will grow.
$75 provides a window that brings light into a new beginning.
$100 installs a door that opens to stability and opportunity.

CDHFH has built, refurbished or repaired over 300 homes and given a hand up to over 2000 individuals since 1990. With diverse and robust programs such as this, we hope to create a generational impact in our community.
