Chuck Bean Supports Delaware's Foster and Adoptive Children

A fundraiser for: A Better Chance for Our Children

Organization Mission:

A Better Chance for Our Children is dedicated to providing permanency for children. We focus on finding families for waiting children, most from foster care and many with special needs. We believe that through education and support, families can develop the skills necessary to provide a stable, nurturing environment for these children. We prioritize this training and support so that waiting children have a better chance of overcoming the trauma they have experienced. We believe that all children deserve a chance to be the best people they can be and, to achieve this, it is in a child’s best interest to be with a properly trained and supportive family.

I’m Chuck Bean.

I’m fundraising for A Better Chance for Our Children.

When Funding Stops, We Don’t.

For 15 years, we’ve stepped in where funding falls short.
One of the most urgent gaps we are addressing right now is what happens at 18.

Turning 18 should be a milestone. For many young people connected to foster care, it’s a cliff.
We support young adults 18+ who were adopted from foster care, and young adults no longer eligible for foster care services

At 18, services end.
Funding stops.
Needs don’t.

State contracts make vital services possible.
But when eligibility ends, needs don’t.
Healing doesn’t follow a funding timeline.

Without continued support, the risks rise, including housing instability, trafficking, exploitation, and involvement with the legal system.

These are the unfunded moments that determine what happens next:
  • - Continued therapy when insurance runs out
  • - Life-skills coaching while navigating jobs and housing
  • - Crisis support when a family feels overwhelmed
  • - Emergency assistance to prevent homelessness
  • - Community and belonging for young adults who still need connection

When funding stops, we don’t.

Your gift today turns the cliff into a bridge.

Every dollar keeps a young adult safer, more stable, and connected long after systems step away.
Give today. Be the reason funding stops, but support doesn’t.

"A Better Chance opened our eyes to the complex challenges of parenting children of adoption.  Now that our children are young adults, ABC continues to provide us a safe place to discuss serious challenges to our family life. At ABC, people understand our experiences. The compassion I have always felt at ABC has over and over again given me the hope that enables me to stay fully in the game and love my children regardless of any circumstances.  At ABC, we rejoice over what others might consider a small step.  I have had the privilege of seeing our children's small steps grow over time as they develop into competent, caring adults.  Sincerely, ABC changed the trajectory of our family's life, and I am forever grateful."
