About Newark Symphony Orchestra
Mission: Mission - to provide a service to the community to enrich the quality of life through music education and the performance of live orchestral and classical music by volunteer musicians.
The Newark Symphony Orchestra is primarily a volunteer orchestra, while we do have a few paid union musicians, most of our members are giving freely of their time and talents. Our board consists of volunteers as well. These people serve the NSO with their varying backgrounds and abilities. They bring new contacts and ideas for programming and collaborations. The NSO strives to offer Newark and the surrounding communities live, high-quality classical music. Through our Symphony, Chamber and Family Concert series, we provide a range of powerful music to appeal to our varied audience tastes. We perform a minimum of eight concerts per year, including a concert especially for children. Through our collaborations with youth performing arts ensembles and other various local groups and choruses we are able to reach new patrons.
