DHA Rehoboth Beach Adoption Center Renovation

Delaware Humane Association (DHA) is thrilled to focus this year’s Do More 24 efforts on our Rehoboth Beach Adoption Center renovation. In November 2020, we began construction on a much-needed renovation of our Rehoboth Beach Adoption Center. Since opening our Sussex County location only 4 years ago, it already makes up 1/3 of our entire organization’s adoptions. The renovation will allow DHA to meet increasing demand for adoptable pets in Sussex County in a safe and comfortable environment, and to enhance the overall adoption experience for both pets and families. 

The new space will follow a “fear free” design using stress reducing colors and kennel layouts to reduce sight lines of other dogs and cats. Improvements include: new, easier to clean kennels; separate rooms for adopters to meet and interact with the animals; isolation areas for animals needing special care; and a washer and dryer so that DHA staff can clean all the necessary linens used to care for animals on site. 

While we’ve already raised a large portion of the funds necessary to complete the renovation, we need your help to raise the final $10,000 necessary to complete the project! Not only will your contributions to this campaign allow us to cover costs for these vital renovation plans, but they’ll also help more animals find forever homes safely -- in Wilmington, in our newly renovated Rehoboth Beach center, and beyond.
