Students Supporting Students

Under typical circumstances it can be challenging for students to complete their academic goals while balancing work and family. Many students face significant hardships such as homelessness, unemployment, transportation, food insecurity, and childcare - all while trying to continue their coursework.
 
Through the generosity of our donors, 57 students facing hardships received $40,798 in emergency assistance; 255 households were served by our four campus food pantries; and 426 students benefitted from the laptop lending program, enabling them to continue their education despite previous barriers to technology and internet access.
 
The Student Support Fund is available to all Delaware Tech students enrolled in a credit or short-term certificate program who have unmet financial needs. While scholarships help to fill some of that gap, expenses arise that require additional financial assistance. This helps to ensure that no student has to choose between their education and their basic needs. Whether it's covering the cost of child care, transportation, or exam fees, Delaware Tech understands that students may require additional financial support during uncertain times. 
 
Please join your fellow Delaware Tech students and alumni in donating to the “Students Supporting Students” Campaign beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 2. All proceeds benefit the Student Support Fund. You can help bridge the gap for students who are facing financial challenges and provide them with the support they need to succeed. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in making a difference in the lives of our students.

“I am a returning student. I had been out of college for 12 years… Through [Delaware Tech’s laptop lending] program, it has allowed me to complete my assignments because I don’t have a desktop…. This is my very first laptop. The laptop lending program has given me the freedom to do my homework and buckle down on my assignments with ease and without having to borrow from someone else… I thank you donors for this and the person, who implemented this. It is thoughtful of you to think of those, who don’t have this resource.”
