The last year has been a rough one for so many, yet I wake up every day feeling blessed to live in the great little state of Delaware! It's where everyone's your neighbor, right? I'm going to ask you to help me help our state of neighbors. But first, a little back story ...
In the Spring of 2020, as our country was in turmoil over many issues, I started to think more and more about my life and how I've been hunkered down for so many years as a single mom. I've been super focused on my kids and the village of teachers, friends and family that help them thrive. It was what I had to do. Thankfully, for all those years, the United Way of Delaware has been doing the good work, providing funding and programs to help the neediest of Delawareans ... providing what they need in their hardest times. Providing stepping stones to a better life, a more equitable opportunity for prosperity. The good work that makes life better in Delaware for all.
And this summer, as I looked up at the world we live in, I realized I had to do something to make Delaware better for everyone --- it was time to refocus my energy outward and to do something bold. This is the beginning of my "bold" years ... the years where I work to create a world where there's social justice and racial equality, where every child imagines a life full of possibilities and potential without obstacles or barriers.
As I reflected and thought about what to do, I asked myself, "What can I do?" And, the answer became pretty clear that I needed to change my career to serve in a new way. Fortunately, for me, I get to do that through a new role at the United Way of DE.
If you find yourself asking, "What can I do?" ... Today, it's simple. Today, I am asking you to GIVE.

Every dollar makes a difference. Every dollar makes an impact on people's lives right here in our great little state. Every dollar is an answer to the question, "What can I do?"
