First State Squash is an out-of-school program that delivers critical academic, athletic and youth development programming to Wilmington youth. During the school year, FSS team members attend 2-3  practices each week, tournaments, community engagement events, and much more. Over the summer, we offer specialized programming and lots of fun field trips! Each regular session includes squash instruction, academic support (homework help and literacy-based enrichment), team building, and a healthy snack.

The program currently works alongside 85 students in 5th through 11th grades from over ten Title I middle and high schools in Wilmington, DE.

First State Squash is tuition-free and this is only made possible by our thoughtful community of supporters. Your support helps ensure First State Squash:
  • offers individualized academic and squash programming to meet the interests and needs of our team members
  • provides High School placement support to our 8th grade cohorts and pre-college readiness programming for our High School cohorts
  • provides transportation for our team members
  • continues our growth in the Wilmington community
  • creates new opportunities and partnerships to benefit our team members and community
We greatly appreciate you considering a gift and your belief in our mission!
