For a little over a year now, it has been my great privilege to serve as Clear Space Theatre Company's new Managing Director. The volume of programming that this small but mighty professional theater produces each year is remarkable: 13 original productions on our mainstage, consistent arts education programs for both young people and retired folks,  and special presented events, cabarets, and concerts. Tucked away a half a block from the boardwalk in beautiful Rehoboth Beach with an intimate 170-seat theater, we are the most prolific producer of professional theater in the state.

Happily, Clear Space is growing - and growing at a remarkable rate. Nearly all of our 2024 productions sold out their full runs, and total audiences grew between 2023 and 2024 by nearly 35%.  We have added more performances to our mainstage season than ever before to meet the demand. This spring, our Arts Institute enrollment is the highest it has ever been as well. To meet the needs of a growing community and to fit all the audiences and students who benefit from our programs, we're at the beginning of a plan to build a new performing arts center for our region, to give us the space to grow. But before that can happen, there's growth we need to achieve internally as well. Between 2025 and 2026 we are committed to improving our artist compensation to ensure that it can match livable wages and industry standards. We're committed to exploring new places where our Arts Institute can grow. We're committed to finding, creating, and telling stories that have unique resonance to our community here in coastal Delaware - alongside all the popular titles our audiences already know and love. But to do that, we need to increase philanthropic support.
