Support Historic Georgetown Association and its mission to serve communities in Delaware. HGA was organized over 30 years ago with the goal of preserving Georgetown's past while planning for the future. HGA owns the Georgetown Train Station built in the late 1870's and operate a museum on the first floor with displays and items regarding railroad and Georgetown history. The organization also restored Georgetown's First Fire House built in 1909 and has dedicated it to the men and women who have served this community as volunteer fire fighters. HGA has been active in the past in restoring old homes and businesses, as well as, offering opportunities for the children, teenagers, and adults to learn more about Georgetown's historic past. Open Houses, car shows, Christmas events, Return Day Celebrations, and much more are a part of this vibrant organization. Community groups also use our facilities for meetings and special occasions. HGA is not affiliated with the Georgetown Historical Society, but operates as a separate preservation organization. About Historic Georgetown Association

Historic Georgetown Association was established over 30 years ago with the purpose of working with the Town of Georgetown and the community in general to preserve Georgetown's rich history while looking  forward to ensuring a successful future for the town and surrounding areas. As one of its first projects, HGA purchased the Georgetown Train Station built in the late 19th century. It had fallen into substantial disrepair and was renovated by HGA. Today, the first floor is used as a museum and visitors have come from far and wide to see the many historical items, elaborate train display, and the beautiful architecture of this historic building. HGA also has Georgetown's First Fire House, built in 1909, on its complex located at 140 Layton Avenue. This structure was renovated by HGA and dedicated to the many volunteer firefighters of Station 77 in Georgetown.

HGA was also instrumental in preserving several other historic homes and buildings in Georgetown over the years. Open House for the train station and first fire house is held the first Saturday of each month from May through August. There is also an Open House and Car Show the second Saturday in September. Annually, HGA holds two events called, "Christmas at the Train Station" each December where the community can come together to celebrate this special season. Santa gives small gifts to the children, Christmas carols are sung, and refreshments are provided free of charge to those who attend. Every election year, HGA joins in with the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate Returns Day by having an Open House and tours. Again, refreshments are provided free to the public. Many community groups use the Train Station for various meetings and special events.
