Lewes in Bloom

Organization Mission:

Lewes in Bloom (LIB) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. The mission of Lewes in Bloom is to promote and maintain the beautification of Lewes public gardens and parks through citizen volunteerism. The mission of Art in Bloom, an important committee of LIB, is to enhance the beautification and cultural environment of Lewes through public art.

The Children’s Learning Garden was established in 2013 by Lewes In Bloom and is located in Stango Park in Lewes, Delaware.  Lewes In Bloom is expanding the garden by almost 500 square feet.  Each summer, the garden hosts almost 100 children per week and provides activities on Mondays and Fridays. The Monday activity is a garden-inspired story hour. Lewes in Bloom volunteers work with the Lewes Public Library and their Children’s Librarian to present stories and garden activities. Friday activities include music, arts and crafts, science, and cooking. Local experts are invited to present programs to the children such as Beekeeping, How Seeds Grow, Healthy Eating, Garden Insects, and our annual Lady Bug Day where children delight in releasing almost 2000 lady bugs.  As this activity has grown in popularity, it has outgrown its space.  Please help Lewes in Bloom by donating to help us provide more garden-themed activities for children.

The Children’s Learning Garden mission statement is to create a learning garden where families can see how local fruits, flowers and vegetables grow. The garden provides hands-on experiences through supervised activities by Lewes In Bloom volunteers and community members.
