You can help bring our programs to life in 2025!

In 2020, NRFF was born out of the recognition that Indigenous people are tied to land, but that our relationships with the natural world have been damaged by colonization. Through art, food, and horticultural based programs we reignite the cultural, artistic, and horticultural practices of our ancestors to support the community and future generations. We rematriate culturally significant plants, like Nanticoke Squash, with their human relatives. We create programs at the request of community members that reflect aspects of our culture we have been disconnected from, that they want to learn. And, we revitalize palettes with native plants including Mahchikpi (Lenape for Pawpaw) and Yaupon Tea.

Your gift will help us educate, inspire, and transform community members' relationships with the natural world.

Wanishi, thank you, for your generous support!

About Native Roots Farm Foundation

Mission: We are reclaiming, cultivating, and celebrating Native relationships with land, plants, and community for the next Seven Generations.

Native Roots Farm Foundation (NRFF) uplifts local Indigenous communities, Indigenous ecological knowledge, and the community's relationship with the natural world. Colonization and forced assimilation intentionally disconnected the relationships many Indigenous communities have with the natural world. NRFF reunites Native people with aspects of our heritage and shares that knowledge with the wider community through original, educational programs.

Our work builds Indigenous ecological knowledge, supports inter-tribal and inter-generational engagement and learning, reconnects Native people with ancestral seeds and culturally meaningful plants, and furthers the entire community’s relationships with nature.
