PAWS for People

PAWS for People™ (Pet-Assisted Visitation Volunteer Services, or PAWS) is a nonprofit organization committed to providing therapeutic visits to any person in the community who would benefit from interaction with a well-trained, loving pet.

$5,000 goal

2025 marks PAWS for People's 20th year serving the Delaware community. Since 2005, PAWS volunteer pet therapy teams have visited in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, libraries, cancer centers, mental health resource centers, and anywhere people in need would benefit from interaction with a gentle, affectionate pet. We reach over 75,000 people each year, bringing the hope and healing of PAWS pet therapy to Delawareans up and down the state.

PAWS Do More 24 DE campaign goals are to:
  • Raise funds to support our programs.
  • Introduce PAWS to new people who can become friends, donors, and volunteers.

From literacy support in schools and libraries to hospice programs and mental health support, PAWS volunteer pet therapy teams are doing more for Delawareans every day. Here are just a few examples of how your donation to PAWS makes a difference:

  • $10 provides a short leash to allow a person we visit to "assist" in walking a PAWS therapy pet.
  • $25 provides supplies and training for a PAWS pet therapy team to engage with elders in memory care.
  • $50 supplies and trains a volunteer pet therapy team in PAWS for Reading or PAWS Autism Initiative to support young learners.
  • $100 provides a PAWS DeStress session to support mental wellness in our community.

Please help PAWS continue to Do More in 2025 by supporting PAWS for People today… thank you!
