About Delaware Dance Company

Mission: To advance the knowledge and appreciation of dance in the community and region through instruction, performances, and outreach programs: to provide the highest quality educational opportunities possible in all aspects of dance to anyone desiring such education; to be viewed as a community and regional leader in preparing vocational students for a professional career in dance.

Last spring, Delaware Dance Company responded to the State of Emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic by bringing dance education into the homes of our students through the use of virtual meeting platforms.
Over the summer, we earned permission to reopen and offered limited in-person instruction as well as a taped, year-end performance for our students.
This fall, through careful scheduling, we have been able to offer our full curriculum. All pandemic restrictions are in place and all participants are required to wear a mask and be socially distanced at all times. We are pleased to be at two-thirds of our usual enrollment given the current circumstances.
This fall, despite the constraints that would be faced, we decided to continue our 36-year, unbroken tradition of presenting The Nutcracker. We had hoped the dedicated dancers who committed to the performance might be able to perform before a small, socially distanced audience, but the rise in virus victims throughout the fall put an end to that hope, but not to the production. Delaware Dance Company streamed its Nutcracker 2020 premiering on Christmas Day. Over the 53-hour period that the performance was available, nearly 1500 unique views were registered!
Going forward in 2021, we continue with scheduled classes and plans are underway for a spring Gala as well as year-end student concerts. These performances will be recorded and streamed if we cannot host live audiences.  Our dancers yearn to hear the applause of their supporters but remain dedicated to improving their technique and artistry just as DDC remains dedicated to its mission of bringing the art of dance to the community.
We hope that you will applaud these efforts by making a donation.
