Founded in 1973, Delaware Humanities strengthens our communities by connecting Delawareans through our shared human experiences. We are Delaware’s independent, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Prime Time Family Reading introduces 6 to 10-year-old children and their families to the humanities through storytelling and discussions that build the foundation for a lifelong love of reading and learning. During a Prime Time program, a storyteller reads a children’s book and then families are guided through discussion to personally connect with literature through open-ended questioning.

These programs model strategies for continued family bonding through literature and provide families with critical information for continued reading. Sessions are six weeks long with up to 25 families, and one book is given to each family per week.
About Delaware Humanities

Delaware Humanities provides program services and funding opportunities to cultural, educational, and civic institutions statewide for projects and public events that enhance our understanding of who we are, where we’ve been, and where we are going as individuals, communities, and citizens of Delaware.

Our program services provide Speakers, Prime Time Family Reading, Conversation Leaders, exhibits, and toolkits to organizations throughout the state.
