Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ)
Concerned about the corrosive consequences of racism, a group of community activists formed a non-partisan non-profit in 2015 to educate, inform, and advocate for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunities
Support Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ) and its mission to eliminate racism and its terrible consequences. SDARJ publishes a free quarterly news magazine, "Black Voices," which has a circulation of over 17,000. It's the only one of its kind in Delaware. SDARJ provides scholarships to high school seniors and academic recognition to Sussex County honor roll students. SDARJ also helps "returning citizens" integrate into society. SDARJ conducts local town halls and provides free 7-week seminars called Dialogue Towards Ending Racism. Finally, SDARJ works with a coalition of partners to craft legislation that benefits Delawareans, especially people in need.

Sponsoring Scholarships
In 2018, SDARJ started a scholarship program that annually awards scholarships to local Black/African American high school students headed for college. Students selected must demonstrate a concern for advancing racial justice. In 2022, eight students received $1,000 and a $500 scholarship was awarded to a paraprofessional to advance a teaching certificate.
Black Voices
In 2021, SDARJ launched Quarterly Magazine entitled Black Voices. The publication showcases the history, talents, accomplishments and perspective of Black community members.
Each edition is on SDARJ's website and a hard copy of the publication is distributed as an insert for Cape Gazette subscribers.
