Shelter, Stability, and Dignity — Tharros 2026
Fundraising Goal: $20,000
Purpose: Operating expenses, March 15 – November 30, 2026
Who We Are
Tharros Village is a small, self-governed transitional community for unsheltered adults in Eastern Sussex County. We provide a safe, stable place to live for people who are ready to take the next steps toward housing, employment, and restored independence.
Our model is simple but powerful: dignity, structure, and accountability — paired with compassion and community support.
Why This Matters in Eastern Sussex County
Eastern Sussex County continues to face a growing gap between people experiencing homelessness and the availability of safe, appropriate places for them to live. Without options, many people are forced into unsafe woods, illegal encampments, or repeated emergency shelter stays that disrupt progress and strain community resources.
Tharros Village fills a critical middle space — offering stability before people are ready for permanent housing, and preventing regression into crisis.
What Your Support Will Do in 2026
Your donation will help sustain Tharros Village for nine critical months in 2026 — from March 15 through November 30 — covering essential operating costs such as:
- Site operations and maintenance
- Utilities and sanitation
- Safety and security measures
- Case coordination and resident support
- Supplies that keep the village clean, functional, and respectful
With $20,000, we can keep the village operating safely and responsibly, supporting residents as they work toward employment, income stability, and housing pathways.
The Impact
In 2026, Tharros Village will:
- Provide consistent, stable shelter for unsheltered adults
- Reduce unsafe outdoor encampments in Eastern Sussex
- Support residents in reconnecting with case management, work, and services
- Offer a community-based alternative that benefits both residents and the broader public
This is not just about shelter — it’s about stability, dignity, and a path forward.
