Southern Delaware Chorale

The mission of the Southern Delaware Chorale is four-fold: to provide a vehicle through which local singers can come together to sharpen their musical skills and share a love of choral music; to provide an opportunity for high school and college singers to perform challenging music beyond what they are offered in their academic settings; to bring well-performed choral music to various venues in Southern Delaware; to expand the number and type of music offerings available to local audiences.

Under the direction of Dr. Colin Armstrong and Assistant Director and accompanist, Sarah Rose, the Southern Delaware Chorale is currently comprised of about 62 singers from all over Sussex County who are known primarily for performing beautiful classical music, such as the Handel's Messiah and many others.  The Chorale has three performances throughout the season;  the holiday concert for 2022 was entitled, "Classic Holiday Favorites," the February concert is on 2/26/23 and is entitled, " Black History, A Choral Tapestry" and the spring concert is scheduled for 4/30/23 and is entitled, "A Spring Bouquet."  All concerts are held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE

The Southern DE Chorale continues to grow in membership, almost to where it was before the pandemic.  Since the Chorale is the only choral group in this area that performs classical music,  it needs to remain current. Therefore, the Board of Directors seeks to expand the organization and employ a part-time Administrative Assistant who would be in charge of marketing,  communications and membership for the Chorale in this digital age.

Since the Chorale is a nonprofit, it receives money from grants, (Delaware Division of the Arts) and donations which goes towards the general operating budget.  The Southern DE Chorale would like to raise money to fund a part-time Administrative Assistant and in doing so, this would give the Chorale the boost that is needed for the future!
