Sexual violence can have devastating impacts on its survivors. Victims of sexual abuse often suffer from severe depression, dissociative disorders, substance use disorders, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). If left untreated, these conditions can lead to significant suffering psychologically, emotionally, economically, and socially.  In the United States, it is estimated that 56% of individuals don’t receive this very necessary mental health treatment, and of those left untreated, 50% reported the inability to pay for the high costs. About Survivors of Abuse in Recovery (SOAR) Inc.

Mission: SOAR is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing professional mental health services to victims of sexual trauma and their families regardless of their ability to pay. A leader in the field, SOAR also provides education, advocacy and professional development.

SOAR started as a small Wilmington based therapy program for adult victims of sexual trauma. In nearly 25 years it has grown into a statewide program providing individual, family and group therapy to child, teen and adult victims of sexual trauma as well as programs for secondary victims (non-offending family members). As a leader in the field, we provide education, advocacy, and professional development for our survivors.

SOAR's recovery services include individual, family and group psychotherapy services designed to help victims of all ages recover from the sex crimes that have been committed against them. More than 2,000 adults, adolescents, children, and their families residing in Delaware and the surrounding counties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland utilize SOAR’s services annually.
