About The Challenge Program

Mission: The Challenge Program's mission is to provide vocational training in the construction and woodworking trades for Delaware's most vulnerable youth, to empower them with the confidence, skills and purpose to become highly employable and self-sufficient.

The Challenge Program builds pathways to employment for out-of-school, disconnected youth ages 18 to 24 with significant barriers, who are at high risk of living in poverty, experiencing gun violence, and being involved in the criminal justice system. In addition to paid vocational training in construction and woodworking, we provide basic education classes and GED preparation, job readiness training (resumes and interviewing), credentialling (flagger and forklift), job placement assistance, and intensive case management and supportive services. We have served over 500 young adults since 1998.
