About The Francois Foundation for Autism

The Francois Foundation for Autism is a Delaware-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2021 to support children and families affected by autism. The Foundation provides inclusive, sensory-based programs that promote emotional wellness, creativity, and family connection. Through community partnerships and advocacy, we create safe, supportive spaces where children can thrive and families feel empowered. Our long-term vision includes developing a Delaware Children’s Sensory art and Innovation Center to expand access to services statewide.

The Francois Foundation for Autism provides inclusive, sensory-focused programs that support children with autism and strengthen families across Delaware. To date, we have served over 500 children and their families statewide through our community-based initiatives.

Sensory Art & Craft Workshops are a monthly program designed to provide children with consistent, predictable sensory-friendly experiences. Each session offers hands-on art activities using various textures, colors, and materials to support sensory regulation, emotional expression, fine motor development, and social interaction. Children are encouraged to participate at their own pace in a safe, judgment-free environment, helping build routine, confidence, and creativity over time.

Tools for Calm provides sensory kits and coping resources to help children manage anxiety, stress, and sensory overload at home, school, and in community settings.

Feeding the Less Fortunate Families addresses food insecurity by providing nutritious meals and food support to families experiencing financial hardship monthly.

Family Support Services connect parents and caregivers with guidance, resources, and peer support to reduce isolation and strengthen family well-being.

To support these programs and expand access statewide, the Foundation hosts key community events:

  • The Mother’s Day Banquet Fundraiser aims to raise $50,000 to sustain monthly sensory programming, provide family support services, and advance planning for our building project , while celebrating mothers, caregivers, and grandparents raising children with autism.
  • The Walk for Autism Awareness aims to increase community awareness, engage families across counties, and raise funds to support ongoing programs, advocacy, and outreach.

Every child deserves a safe space to create, calm, and thrive.
Your donation today helps us provide monthly sensory art workshops, calming tools, meals for families in need, and vital support services for children with autism across Delaware.
We’ve already served over 500 children and families, and with your help, we can reach even more.
