This year we are raising funds for something different. It has always been a dream of the rescue and its volunteers to offer something special to the community. Having an autistic grandson, I have seen first-hand the difference horses have made in his life. He went from a little boy who would literally never stop running and stimming, to a little boy who would sit quietly in front of me on a horse for over an hour while riding in the woods. It was AMAZING. My dream is to share that experience with other autistic children and their families in our community.
We need funds for helmets, another safe small enclosure to work with the children and horses/ponies, and training for some of the sanctuary horses on the property. We want to utilize what we already have as much as possible. We would like to find a trainer or two that will come to the farm and work with the horses, which would greatly cut down on the cost of sending them away. This is an exciting adventure and I'm excited to share it with all of you!
We would also like more volunteers to help around the farm with repairs, cleaning stalls, working with the horse, or just loving them!
We have been in the community, rescuing horses, for over 27 years. Currently, the rescue has 22 total equines. On the farm, you will also find 19 goats, several chickens, some geese (none laying golden eggs) and three friendly turkeys.
Any funds towards this goal would be AMAZING. Thank you for taking the time to visit and read this!
Over the past 27 years our goal has been to raise public awareness to the plight of the slaughter bound horse, provide education on the proper care of our equine friends and place as many horses as possible in loving, adoptive homes.
