About Delaware Institute for Healthcare Education Advancement

Mission: Delaware needs healthcare workers. From medical doctors to community health workers, we need care providers. We encourage Delawareans to pursue education in healthcare by giving scholarships of $100 to each winner to spend anyway they want especially on self-care.

Our first round of funding started in 2022. All our scholars are pursuing a degree or certificate in healthcare in the fall of 2022. Each winner received $100 to spend anyway they would like. Preference was given to Delawareans.  It is our vision that the funding will help healthcare students with non-tuition related expenses such as self-care or gas money to get to clinical sites.

Of all our scholars, 70% are residents of Delaware with participation from all three Delaware counties. Their aspirations include nursing, dentistry, medicine, physical therapy, and physician assistant.

DIHEA was started by clinicians who know first-hand the importance of clinical experience and the need for self-care. Our mission is to encourage Delawareans to pursue education in healthcare.
