Frantic Happens! Frantic Music Project started out with co-founders Al and Mary "Frantic" (owners of Milton-based music store, Frantic Frets) giving back and building a community. The Project was born during the height of the COVID Pandemic in early 2020. They began providing events that engaged the community and spearheaded a major fundraising effort to help a friend and fellow musician who was facing a very serious illness. With a strong sense of community and helping others, they began talking about starting a nonprofit organization to help struggling area working musicians who lost most if not all of their income during the Pandemic.
The community and musicians appreciated the couple opening their home by offering outdoor house concerts and open mics during 2020 and 2021. Friends personally donated to help the Frantics pursue their dream of starting their own nonprofit to benefit musicians by providing programs and subsidized services and equipment to Delaware musicians and in early 2022 they were able to bring that dream to fruition.
Music provides so much to so many and musicians are the conduit to bringing it to us. If you have been touched by music, now is your chance to support our musicians who share their gifts of music with all of us.
What your continued support has enabled Frantic Music Project to:
- Raise and distribute over $100,000 in support of musicians who faced medical challenges.
- Provide a safe and inclusive outdoor community space that has brought numerous house concerts to Milton, Delaware.
- Donate instruments for music therapy programs that help to enrich the lives of others.
- Host regular open mic programs to foster, encourage, and mentor musicians of all ages and skill levels.
- Host the first Play Music on the Porch Day event in 2024 that featured 12 local artists, and through a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts was able to pay a stipend to each performer.
Earlier this year, we all took pause when it was announced that federal grant funding would cease. Of course, as we know, the decision was reversed, but it has those of us managing nonprofit organization very concerned about the future of grant funding.
Our 2024 Play Music on the Porch Day received a grant which is a pass-through from the Federal Government. We would like to be able to pay the musicians who perform, as our philosophy has always been for musicians should be paid for their time and talent.
Events like these are so important to our well-being and help us live in the moment for a couple of hours as we listen and watch the musicians pouring their hearts and souls out for us.
We are hoping that today, during the DoMore24 fundraiser, you will help to support Frantic Music Project so we may continue our mission of offering support to our musicians and providing the community with and musicians with unique music events.
There are so many organizations that need our help, and we hope that you do support those groups doing great work for the homeless, and veterans, children, and animals, and we hope you can spare just a few extra dollars to support the arts that are so important to all of us.
Thank you for your continued support of our music community.
Al & Mary
