About La Fiesta Early Childhood Services (ECS)

La Fiesta Early Childhood Services (ECS) operates 3 highly-rated center Early Learning Centers serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old from primarily working, low-income Spanish speaking families. The LACC opened its second Learning Center, La Fiesta II in April of 2024 and will be celebrating the grand opening of La Fiesta III, our 3rd center, during Do More 24 with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday March 8th.  The centers operate from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Academic and behavioral curricula are delivered in a culturally and linguistically appropriate environment, with most ECS staff being Latina and Spanish-speaking or Spanish-English bilingual. Infant and toddler classrooms are instructed entirely in Spanish, and preschool students alternate each week between Spanish and English instruction. Each year at least 90% of our graduating preschoolers are meeting or exceeding state benchmarks for kindergarten readiness and we have found anecdotally that our students are reading in both English and Spanish by second grade.

About the Ribbon Cutting

The LACC invites you to celebrate Do More 24 with us with the Ribbon Cutting Celebration for our La Fiesta III Early Learning Center. The celebration is on Friday March 8th and will start with tours of the center from 10am to 10:30am followed by a ceremony from 10:30am to 12pm. The ceremony is located at 239 Christiana Rd. New Castle, DE 19720.

About Before and After School Community Learning Centers

More than 25,000 children in Delaware are left alone and unsupervised after school (After School Alliance). The LACC Before and After School Community Learning Centers meet this need by providing affordable before and after school care for over 200 students ages 5 to 12 through our two community learning centers based at the LACC main building and William C Lewis Elementary School. The LACC's community learning centers provide various programs that promote academic achievement and social growth. Children receive breakfast in the morning and dinner after school. Program offerings include homework assistance, one-on-one mentoring from University of Delaware Education students, enrichment, recreational activities, and physical education. Each day after school, time is set aside for homework and tutoring. Students have access to computers to complete homework and special assignments. The program offers enrichment activities such as choir, dance, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Kind to Kids, and arts and crafts. Physical activities include basketball and soccer. This program also hosts family nights and other engagement activities for families of participating children. The program ensures low-income minority youth have access to high-quality education and do not fall behind their peers.

About Summer Day Camp

The LACC has operated a state-licensed Summer Day Camp since 1992, serving children from low-income working families. The Summer Day Camp runs Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for ten

weeks, serving 160 children, ages 5 to 12. High-quality summer learning programs have the potential to help children improve academically. This is especially true for children from low-income families who might need access to educational resources throughout the summer. Activities include Reading Buddies, academic enrichment, arts, physical activity, and various special events. There are field trips to parks and museums, sports are included, and every child learns to swim. As 50% of learning loss happens over the summer, the LACC helps to ensure that learning happens year-round.

The LACC is committed to making high quality educational programming affordable and accessible for children ages 0 to 12. As such, the LACC places no limit on the amount of Purchase of Care (POC) families accepted and has a sliding fee scale for families ineligible for POC. Fundraisers such as Do More 24 allow the LACC to raise funds to make this financial assistance possible.
