Doing more today can change the world tomorrow!

Over 43% of children in DE under the age of 17 have been exposed to at least one adverse childhood experience (ACE), and more than 1 in 5 youth were exposed to two or more.

Adverse Childhood Experiences are potentially traumatic events that take place in a child's life prior to the age of 18. These experiences can impact a child's brain development and how the body responds to stress.  Without intervention, these children are more at risk of participating in risky behaviors, have higher rates of chronic illness, mental, emotional, and behavioral health problems, and are less likely to excel in academics and/or graduate from high school.

NOW more than ever, our children need the caring, ongoing, purposeful interaction of an adult. This is the definition of mentoring. “Research shows that the strongest protective factor linked with resilience to childhood trauma is the reliable presence of a sensitive, nurturing, and responsive adult,” (childtrends.org). Yet, 1 in 3 youth do not have a positive role model.

Our Mentoring and Social Emotional Learning programs will not only provide the support that these children need, they will also provide a protective factor that will encourage growth and skill development in the core competencies of SEL – self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making, self-management, and self-esteem.

Our goal is to ensure that every child in our state that wants or needs a mentor can have one!

When you make a difference in the life of a child you will not only impact their families and their communities, but your support can also inspire them to change the world.

Your donation will support the following programs:
Creative Mentoring -
1 to 1 student led; organic, mentoring sessions held 1 day a week during the school year.
Creative Education - Social Emotional Learning Workshops facilitated by trained staff.  All curricula is designed to teach youth the SEL skills they need to navigate life successfully, overcome adversity, cope with difficult situations, adapt to change, etc.
Creative Collaborations - Programs designed to provide services to youth in special populations. This includes Fostering Connections, a mentoring program for youth in and aging out of foster care and Sibshops, workshops for the siblings of youth with support (special) needs.
