Organization Mission:

SNAC Garden Foundation cultivates health, learning, and nourishment by creating equitable access to nature and food. Through hands-on gardening, science-based education, and sustainable practices, we inspire wellness, nurture curiosity, and strengthen community. SNAC Garden Foundation is the hub where community, nature, and learning come together. As the leading resource in Delaware for garden engagement, we build strong partnerships to create accessible gardens and educational programs that grow healthy families, sustainable communities, and a resilient environment.

I’m Shandra Furtado.

I’m fundraising for SNAC Garden Foundation.

🌱 Support hands-on learning and give students the opportunity to grow! 🌱

At Longneck Elementary, students step into the SNAC (School Nutrition Agri-Culture) Garden each week to explore science, nutrition, and sustainability through hands-on experiences. In the garden, students aren’t just learning—they’re planting, observing, tasting, and discovering the natural world around them!

We’re raising $800 to enhance the garden and provide more learning opportunities for every student at Longneck Elementary.

Why This Matters
The SNAC Garden is more than just a place to grow plants—it’s a living classroom where students:
  • Learn how food is grown and harvested
  • Discover the role of soil, compost, and pollinators
  • Engage in hands-on STEM lessons
  • Develop healthy eating habits by trying fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Practice mindfulness and teamwork in a natural environment

For many students, the SNAC Garden is a place of excitement and discovery, where they gain real-world knowledge about the food they eat and the environment around them.

Our Goal: $500

Your donation will help us provide essential resources to support student learning, including:
  • $10 – Buys seeds and soil for students to plant and nurture
  • $25 – Provides tools and materials for hands-on activities
  • $50 – Supports a full class lesson with a garden educator
  • $100+ – Helps maintain and expand the garden for future students

How You Can Help
By donating, you’re ensuring that every child at Longneck Elementary has the chance to experience hands-on, outdoor learning—connecting them with nature, science, and the food they eat in a fun and engaging way.
💚 Help us reach our $800 goal and keep the SNAC Garden growing strong!
About SNAC Garden Foundation

The SNAC (School Nutrition Agri-Culture) Garden Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming schoolyards into vibrant outdoor classrooms where students of all backgrounds can engage in hands-on environmental STEM education, health education, and ecological stewardship.

Through weekly garden-based lessons, we provide over 2,500 students at Longneck Elementary, North Georgetown Elementary,  Georgetown Middle School, and Howard T. Ennis with meaningful opportunities to connect with nature, grow their own food, and develop lifelong healthy habits. Our trained garden educators lead lessons on topics such as soil health, plant life cycles, sustainable agriculture, and nutrition—ensuring every child has access to outdoor learning experiences.

By integrating gardening with science, history, and mindfulness, we empower students to become environmental stewards and cultivate a deeper connection to their communities.
