Make-A-Wish® Delaware creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We seek to bring every eligible child's wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness.  All funds raised for our chapter through Do More 24 will go towards making wishes come true for children living in Delaware. Below is a letter from 11-year-old Teagan from Milford, DE.  Teagan was diagnosed with cancer and had her wish for a Disney themed backyard makeover granted last year.  Teagan is just one of 40 to 60 kids who have their wish granted in the state of Delaware each year.  Right now, 54 kids are waiting for their wish to be granted in the state of Delaware.  DO MORE and help us grant wishes to kids waiting in your community today!

When my Mom told me that I would be talking to Make-A-Wish, I was so excited! I was hoping to go to Disney, but we were in the middle of COVID and travel was not okay. I also didn’t realize how sick all of my chemo meds were going to make me feel. We talked to Lauren, my wish granter, in November, at the beginning of my Cancer treatment. I spent a lot of time coming up with lots of ideas, but I really don’t like virtual things, so nothing was just right.

We were talking about the things our family loves and I realized I really love spending time with my family and friends and I would love it if we could have Disney in my backyard! When Make-A-Wish made my wish come true by bringing Disney to my backyard, the whole experience was magical! Planning and coming up with crazy ideas helped to distract me and give me lots of things to look forward to when I was in the hospital or having a rough time during treatment. Planning my wish and thinking about it gave me hope for sunny days.

I wish I could do my reveal day all over again! Like Cinderella said “A dream is a wish your heart makes.” I got a Mickey patio and other fun things. I love when I was surprised where they had everything set up. Out movie screen was finished this weekend and I cannot wait to have people over to watch Encanto or Harry Potter!

I want to thank the people from Incyte for everything they did, as well as all of the other great people who make everything possible. I wish the other Make-A-Wish families good luck and lots of fun!

My wish wasn’t just for me, but for my entire family. I love Make-A-Wish. They are fun, cool, kind and other great stuff!

I wouldn’t be where I am now and my treatment would have been much more difficult without Make-A-Wish. I hope you all will give to Make-A-Wish so other kids like me have wishes to look forward to!
