Support Reading Assist and its mission of serving communities in Delaware.
About Us:
Reading Assist is dedicated to providing high-impact literacy tutoring year-round for at-risk children in kindergarten through third grade across Delaware, Chester, PA, and Washington, D.C. We help children with significant reading challenges, empowering them with the skills to reach grade-level proficiency.
Our Impact:
- We partner with schools serving high proportions of students of color, students with disabilities, and multilingual learners.
- Our Reading Assist Fellows provide one-on-one or small group tutoring for students in the lowest 25% of reading proficiency.
- Through daily, 30-40 minute sessions, our students show significant progress, moving from minimal proficiency to mastery of essential reading benchmarks within a school year.
Beyond the Classroom:
In addition to our core school-year program, we offer:
-
After-school tutoring (launched in the 2022-23 school year)
-
Summer tutoring (now in its 4th year)
These programs ensure that students receive continuous support throughout the year.
Proven Success:
- At least 85% of our students reach grade-level reading benchmarks each year.
- In the 2023-24 school year, 90% of students reached benchmark levels in at least one foundational reading skill, with 75% of kindergarteners meeting grade-level benchmarks.
