Organization Mission:

SNAC Garden Foundation cultivates health, learning, and nourishment by creating equitable access to nature and food. Through hands-on gardening, science-based education, and sustainable practices, we inspire wellness, nurture curiosity, and strengthen community. SNAC Garden Foundation is the hub where community, nature, and learning come together. As the leading resource in Delaware for garden engagement, we build strong partnerships to create accessible gardens and educational programs that grow healthy families, sustainable communities, and a resilient environment.

Dear Lewes Local Food & Gardening Community,

We at the SNAC (School Nutrition Agri-Culture) Garden Foundation are so excited to have our first garden in Lewes—3 raised beds at Weathered Eye Farm’s community garden where youth-serving organizations can bring kids to garden and learn all Summer long!

The SNAC (School Nutrition Agri-Culture) Garden Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming schoolyards into vibrant outdoor classrooms where students of all backgrounds can engage in hands-on environmental STEM education, health education, and ecological stewardship. This year, we are expanding our programing to offer local youth meaningful opportunities throughout the Summer to:

🦋 connect with nature
👩‍🌾 grow their own food, and
🥗 develop lifelong healthy habits

But we need your help!

Any organization or group that serves youth is invited to register and participate throughout the Summer at no cost to families or organizations. This combination of partnerships strengthens SNAC's commitment to providing comprehensive, earth-centered education that extends beyond the classroom. It gives young people meaningful opportunities to learn all Summer long while fostering a connection with the environment and engaging with local agriculture and seasonal foods.

All of our gardening programs provide curricula tailored to the needs of our local youth and local ecosystems with lessons on topics such as:

🪱 soil health
🌱 plant life cycles
🍄 sustainable agriculture, and
🥦 nutrition.

By integrating gardening with science, history, and mindfulness, we empower youth to become environmental stewards and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and their communities. Our educators trained in practices proven to promote personal and social-awareness, stress management, and responsible decision-making skills will handle all garden-related maintenance and education at our Weathered Eye garden beds.

Help us serve local youth-serving organizations explore gardening and cultivate a lasting appreciation for nature and healthy food at Weathered Eye Farm!

$20 helps pay for seeds and tools for our garden
$100 supports our end-of-season Harvest Party
$300 pays the entire season’s rent for a garden bed
$500+ helps support program development and staffing

We are extremely grateful for every donation, no matter the size, because every one brings us one step closer to making this new program a reality!

Your support directly contributes to the health, wellbeing, personal development, and educational experiences of Sussex County’s youth during the Summer months, and it means the world to us!
