Why Support the Sussex County Health Coalition

For nearly two decades, the Sussex County Health Coalition has worked to bring the entire community together to improve the health and well-being of children, youth, and families across Sussex County. Founded in 2006, the coalition has grown into a network of more than 200 partner organizations spanning healthcare, education, nonprofits, businesses, government, and community groups—all working together toward one shared goal: a healthier Sussex County. 

Throughout the night during Do More 24 Delaware, we’ve been highlighting the many ways this collaboration is making a difference in our community. From expanding the Community Health Worker workforce that connects families to healthcare and critical resources, to programs like Let’s Get Healthy Sussex that promote nutrition, physical activity, and prevention education, SCHC works every day to remove barriers and improve health outcomes.

We’ve also shared the impact of initiatives like Mini Med School, which exposes youth to healthcare careers, Prevention Mini-Grants that empower grassroots organizations to lead local prevention programs, and Delaware Goes Purple, a statewide campaign that raises awareness about substance use disorder and celebrates recovery.

But our work goes beyond individual programs. SCHC serves as a convener and connector, bringing partners together through committees and collaborative initiatives focused on early childhood, youth development, behavioral health, prevention, and access to care. By working together, we reduce duplication of services, strengthen community capacity, and ensure families have access to the resources they need to thrive.
