About Wilmington Children's Chorus
Mission: The Wilmington Children’s Chorus (WCC) is dedicated to ensuring all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status, have access to high-quality musical education. The only tuition-free community children’s chorus in the nation, our mission is to empower young people to change their world through music. WCC gives our youth the opportunity and tools to excel while infusing Wilmington’s neighborhoods with music.
The Wilmington Children’s Chorus name has become synonymous with excellence: excellence in singing, excellence in performance, and excellence in education. A multi-cultural children's choir, WCC gives youth the opportunity and tools to excel while enriching the community with the unique sound and spirit of children’s voices. WCC involves over 500 singers, ages 1-18, in five different performing ensembles, three Neighborhood Choirs, an early childhood music program, and many summer camps. They regularly collaborate with the region’s top arts organizations and engage in international exchanges with young musicians from Wilmington's Sister Cities. Since 2002, WCC has provided this high-quality educational program for youth without the burden of tuition or membership fees.
The WCC faculty are respected professionals with a wealth of experience in music education, voice pedagogy, and performance. WCC interns assist the staff by providing mentoring to younger choristers while gaining valuable leadership and education experience.
