I’m fundraising for Fostering Wishes Foundation.

I have been working with this foundation for over a year. To know that kids who are often forgotten are having their "wishes" granted so that they have some level of normalcy in their lives is so rewarding. Please help me help them!  Not to mention, help me win prizes and possible pie the CEO! Just a simple $5 donation is all that I am asking. 

There is an incentive for the foundation to win extra money if we can get the most states. Last year, the winner had 42 states! Let's do 50. If you live in another state, please consider donating just $5 so that we can do so much more! Set a reminder and the website will alert you to donate! 

About Fostering Wishes Foundation

Mission: Grant birthday, holiday and special occasion wishes to children and teens in Delaware foster care, improving mental and physical health and preparing them for the future. Kids request their wish through their case worker or advocate and are encouraged to request whatever they want or need - clothes, toys, a team uniform, prom gown, instrument, art supplies, personal care, suitcases, a bike or a book - whatever matters to that young person matters to us. When aging out of care at 18, teens rarely have the means to get essentials for their first home so we provide bedding, housewares, towels and even décor, so their space is personal and welcoming for their transition from foster care to independent living. Fostering Wishes Foundation is available to every youth in Delaware foster care

Our goal for 2024 is to open a "free store" where kids  and teens in Delaware foster care can shop safely and privately for brand-new clothes, shoes, undergarments, coats, career clothes, pajamas and slippers , games, toys, art supplies, musical instruments, books, health and hygiene products and household items for the bedroom, kitchen and bath. with the help of their case worker or advocate and our volunteers.

We are currently operating from an outdoor storage unit and donations raised  raised during DoMore24 will help us move to a more welcoming space and to purchase display racks, lighting, mirrors, comfortable seating, shopping totes  and a point-of-sale system.

Volunteer adult staff will train local foster teens to run the register, barcode and scan inventory, assist customers, keep store tidy and stocked, fold and arrange merchandise, and assist their peers experiencing foster care with their selections, all while developing necessary job skills.

In December 2023 we delivered 1909 items to 296 kids requesting holiday gifts. bringing our total to over 400 wishes for the year! We need your help to fulfill wishes and to be better situated to serve the 700+ kids currently in Delaware foster care.
